Pine forest is the main body of forest resources, ecological barrier and landscape forest culture in Zhejiang Province. Pine forest pests and diseases pose a great threat to ecological security and forestry industry development in Zhejiang. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China will organize a five-year campaign to prevent and control pine wood nematode disease, curb the rapid spread of pine wood nematode disease, and maintain national ecological security and biosecurity. Hangzhou Pheromone research team has always attached importance to scientific and technological innovation as the lead, strengthen the transformation of scientific research results, and promote the deep integration of industry, university and research. Taking Zhejiang pine forest as the research object, the project carried out the research and application of key technologies for the prevention and control of major diseases and insect pests in the pine forest, guaranteed the ecological security of Zhejiang forest, and practiced the concept that green water and green mountains are gold mountains and silver mountains.
In response to the lack of pine wood nematode prevention and control agents and the single prevention and control technology, the team successfully developed a new trapping technology for pine wood nematode and a dry injection and application technology for pine wood nematode disease, realizing a large number of vector insects trapping, as well as precise environmental protection application of pine wood nematode. The green control technology system of pine wood nematode disease, which uses trapping to reduce the insect population density and injection to prevent infection as auxiliary measures, can effectively curb the spread of pine wood nematode disease.
There are nearly 2,000 mu of pine forest in Anji Baicao Garden. Under the guidance of associate Professor Fan Jianting of Zhejiang A&F University, more than 140 sets of pine and Longus Longus traps produced by Hangzhou Philomone have been hung since 2021. The number of dead trees has decreased year by year, from 547 in the first year to 39 in the third year, and the dead tree rate has decreased by more than 90%. The number of Songmo longox traps also decreased significantly, from 4,253 in the first year to 1,736 in the third year. "There are a lot fewer dead trees this year, and there are also a lot fewer longoxen," said Mr. Zeng of the engineering department of Anji Baicao Garden. "The trap of Hangzhou Pheromones has played an important role."
In recent years, Xinanjiang Forest Farm in Jiande City insisted on using the technique of injection and application to prevent pine wood nematode disease. In 2021, 10,700 pine trees were protected and prevented, a total of 30,000 bottles of medicine were applied, and in 2023, no dead tree was found after application. Wu Liping, head of Jiandesen Defense Station, said: "In key scenic spots, we have been using the method of injecting dry agent for protection and prevention, and the effect is very significant, and the pine trees that have been medicated rarely die."
The incidence of pine wood nematode disease is different in different places, so the local forestry authorities should "apply different measures according to local conditions", respectively use different prevention and control technology models to control pine wood nematode disease, and formulate the corresponding local characteristics of pine wood nematode disease prevention and control technology programs. In addition, several existing control technologies of pine wood nematode disease have their own advantages and disadvantages, and it is difficult to achieve the ideal control effect by single use of any technical measure. The principle of "organic combination, complementary advantages" should be adhered to and different control technologies should be used together to successfully control the occurrence of pine wood nematode disease.
The three pine wood nematode disease prevention and control technology models built by Hangzhou Pheromone scientific research team have been successfully applied in Zhejiang, Guangxi and Hunan, and dozens of epidemic points have been removed, becoming an effective method to protect pine trees. These models can be widely promoted in other epidemic areas in the country, laying a solid foundation for achieving the 5-year goal of pine wood nematode disease during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.
