On October 26th, the 2023 IUFRO International Conference on Pine Wood Nematode Disease opened at the Nanjing International Conference Hotel.
The international academic conference on pine wood nematode disease was attended by more than 350 experts, scholars, and graduate students from 17 countries. The conference focused on the theme of "pine wood nematode disease prevention and control theory, technology, and management", exchanging in-depth information on the latest achievements in pine wood nematode disease transmission and diffusion laws, pathogenic mechanisms, multi species interactions, monitoring and warning, prevention and control methods, disease resistant variety selection, forestry management, and other aspects. Through invited reports, youth academic salons, conference reports, and field investigations, we comprehensively showcase the latest technological progress in global pine wilt disease prevention and control research.
In the conference report, Fan Jianting, the Technical Director of Hangzhou Pheromone Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and Teacher of Zhejiang Agricultural and Forestry University, gave a themed report on "Chemical Ecology Research of Two Species of Chinese Black Longhorn", mainly introducing the research on attractants for Pine Black Longhorn and Spruce Blossom Black Longhorn, as well as the upgrading and improvement of their traps.
During the meeting, Hangzhou Pheromone Biotechnology Co., Ltd. showcased a variety of core products independently developed in recent years, mainly including: pine black beetle attractant, spruce flower black beetle attractant, red fat beetle attractant, Huashan pine beetle attractant, American white moth attractant, star beetle attractant, peach red necked beetle attractant, broad-spectrum beetle attractant, beetle attractant, beetle attractant, and moth attractant, Not only has it attracted the attention of numerous forestry research experts and scholars at home and abroad, but the attractant F8 for the pine ink beetle has also won unanimous praise from multiple research experts and forestry department leaders.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Forest Protection and Health Officer Shiroma Sathyapala and other international experts have consulted on technology and received many intention orders for next year
On October 28th, the organizing committee organized nearly a hundred domestic and foreign scholars to visit the site of the occurrence of pine wilt disease in the Liuhe Pingshan Forest Park in the suburbs of Nanjing for on-site inspection, to observe the current comprehensive prevention and control technologies of pine wilt disease in China. As an important part of the prevention and control technology, the longhorn trap killing was introduced and answered questions by Professor Fan Jianting from Zhejiang Agricultural and Forestry University.
The organizing committee, experts and scholars inspected the scene of the BF-10 trap for Monochamus alternatus
